Moray Rape Crisis provides information, advocacy and support to anyone in Moray affected by any form of sexual violence. We offer support in-person, online or over the phone. We have our main office in Elgin, as well as our outreach locations.

We support survivors of sexual violence of all genders, and also the friends, family members and partners of survivors.

We support people who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives. We listen, we believe and we understand.

What is support like?

Our support normally starts with a block of 6 sessions where we work on finding ways to create safety for you and looking at coping strategies for symptoms you may be facing. We also tend to talk a little about trauma, how it manifests and what it can look like in your life. Following that, we offer a further 20 sessions and these give you space to explore trauma recovery and applying this to your life in the longer term.

We go at your pace and work with you to find the best healing journey for you.

You are in charge of your healing journey.

What survivors think of our support

‘I really enjoy coming to see my worker. I feel safe every time and I feel better after the session. She listens well and finds great ways to help whenever I have any problems.’

‘I received support as a parent, and thanks to the support I received, I understood what trauma is and how much it impacts our lives and our mental and physical health. I am incredibly grateful for the support, understanding, and help I received.’

‘Thank you so much for everything. I feel like I have control in my life and have a bigger appreciation for myself and have hope that life is improving and not stuck.’

‘The sessions were conducted with great empathy, support, and understanding. I felt cared for and listened to throughout the process. I received help with various issues, which were resolved, allowing me to improve my quality of life.’

Confidentiality

We understand that it can be difficult to be anonymous in Moray. Our service is confidential. That means that we will not tell anyone you have contacted us, without your agreement, unless you or someone else is at serious risk of harm. We are also independent from social services, the police, and other official agencies. We allow plenty of space between appointments so that survivors don’t see each other coming or going.

You are always in control of what you share and when you choose to share it.
