What is Sexual Abuse?

Sexual abuse is when someone makes you do sexual things that you do not want to do, or do not understand. You may feel you have to do what the other person says, but feel like you have no choice.

Examples of sexual abuse include:

  • Someone makes you undress when you don’t want to
  • Someone touches you in a place that makes you feel uncomfortable
  • Someone shows you parts of their body that you don’t want to see, or makes you touch them
  • Someone shows you sexual pictures that make you feel uncomfortable, or asks you to send them sexual pictures

NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENED, IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT

Whatever happened, no matter what you were wearing or how you were behaving, you are not to blame. If someone has harmed you, it is not your fault. The person who harmed you is responsible.
